6 stitches and 8 years

Is there ever a good time to slice your finger open and have to get stitches? Probably not, but luckily for this little guy things worked out well. We have had a full length mirror in our bathroom that Blake knocked over last week. The glass didn't break, it just came out of the frame. Yesterday morning I was getting ready to take Aubrey and Blake to well child appointments and Cody was talking to me while getting ready when we noticed a piece of the glass sitting on the floor. We threw the small piece away with intentions of getting rid of the big piece later. Blake was crawling all over our floor and Cody moved him away from the mirror once. That fast little guy army crawled right back and flailed his arm and sliced his right pointer finger open. Luckily for us we already had appointments scheduled in 20 minutes, and lucky for me, Cody was off work and already planning on taking the preschool carpool. We wrapped his little finger up with tissue, taped it and put an elastic around it to help stop the bleeding and were off. I'm so thankful we had appointments because the doc was running behind as it was and we would have ended up at the E.R.
Blake received 6 stitches while being held down in the baby papoose. He was actually pretty good until they gave him the numbing shot and then the screaming began. I gave him a bottle and he was calm until that ran out. He finally fell asleep completely exhausted from the whole ordeal.  His well child visit is rescheduled for next week when we can get his stitches removed. They did have to weigh him though and he was 20lbs. 10 oz. By far our biggest baby - and I know it's not even that big!
The day wasn't a big waste though. Cody and I celebrated our 8th anniversary yesterday too. We actually went out to dinner Saturday night with my sister and her husband since they were in town. For our dinner yesterday we bought King Crab legs and steamed them at home and had a nice fun dinner with the family. Then we talked about temples and families being together forever for Family Night and watched our wedding video. Good times. We were reminiscing about how gorgeous it was when we got married, with all the tulips and flowers and this morning we woke up to snow. This crazy spring weather has got to stop. Spring already comes to us about 3 weeks after the the Utah County and Salt Lake Valleys. Oh well, happy spring anyway!

Congrats on eight years. Laurel and I hit eight in August.

Poor little Blake...that looks like it hurt. I can't imagine how tramatic the whole thing must have been for him!!

Wow, eight years... we are all getting old! Can you believe none of our kids have had stitches! Just lots of super glue! My kids broke the mirror in my bathroom too. Seriously, between our 8 kids (and 6 boys!) I think we're going to have every accident in the book :)
